Pfft... C'mon, author. If you're going to give a character a medical condition, at least research it properly and tell us what it is. This just feels like a convoluted way to add some drama to the story. Oh well.

Thanks for the chapter!

hot take: if haimiya was diagnosed with some crazy disease, that wouldve been way better than this shit

like come ON bro "she's gonna disappear from my life oh nooooo" implies that she's going to die, but instead she just has a mental condition
the direction wasnt your lie in april, but mangaka made the foreshadowing so dramatic

I mean, in real life it can be tough to diagnose this sort of condition. Just off the top of my head, this sort of "energy deficiency" can be caused by autistic burnout, anxiety, or depression disorders, and it's not unusual to have no singular, definitive diagnosis. Mental disorders can be hard to pin down, even adults who have spent years in therapy may have evolving diagnoses.

I can't help but constantly feel every chapter lately that the author never knew where to actually take the plot after a certain point and just is pulling whatever to keep things chugging along, I know Mio has always had a hint of something more going on but I kind of figured it would have been less vague or more serious, to me it feels like they want to imply she has either autism, adhd, depression or something else. but didn't actually want to commit to that idea

I frankly don’t know what to say. This must be one of the most contrived, random and downright stupid ways to create drama I’ve seen in a romcom. It’s honestly baffling and laughable.

Author should’ve sticked with this being a fluff manga like it was in the first couple of chapters. It was clear from as early as Koyuki’s introduction that they don’t know how to create a believable drama storyline.

Let’s just hope the payoff when they finally meet again is worth it. But for now, I’m gonna keep thinking it’s stupid.

Sure, but that doesn't change my criticism. There's a difference between portraying the difficulties of diagnosing a condition and leaving it vague just to manufacture drama.

Plus this is a work of fiction, not everything needs to be one to one with real life, you can take creative liberties instead of just using that as an excuse for the fact that every chapter lately has pulled one contrived thing after the other to keep things moving along

So there are "Mental" diseases that can cause these symptoms. Hyperthyroidism is probably the closest: big appetite, but can stay skinny. Also, low energy and lack of sleep are symptoms.

Not defending the author here, and maybe they will bring it up later. But that's just hopeful thinking

Those too, if it actually brings it up instead of continuing to be vague then good on them, still doesn't excuse using it just to manufacture drama but it's better than it being left vague and it coming across as the author not being confident enough in their own ability to represent certain disorders

“Energy” being normalized in mental health discussions is one the innocuous but damaging things to ever happen to Social anxiety and depression acceptance.

All of a sudden a whole generation doesn’t even accept they have anxiety or depression, and even less that it’s something that should or can be treated. Fuck social media man.

What is being left vague if not her specific diagnosis? As I explained, what was described in this chapter is a real symptom of several mental disorders.

And I'm saying that having a symptom shared by several disorders doesn't automatically make it good writing. My issue is how the author is using it to create drama, not whether the symptom is realistic.
