Will Jinguuji inherit the memories after they kiss??? :meguupog:
Not going to lie, I would be upset if that happened. This chapter really emphasized that Weapon Jinguuji's character arc wasn't growing to love Tachibana, it was learning how to recognize and express those feelings. Original Jinguuji and Weapon Jinguuji are the same person, they've just reached this conclusion in different ways.
I think giving Original Jinguuji his memories would undermine that point in favor of tying things up with a bow (also, would be a bit uncomfortable in light of Tachibana's realization that replacing his memories would effectively be killing this Jinguuji).

It wouldnt be killing him if it only added to his memories rather than overwriting them maybe?

I like how the authors have approached this tragic reframing of Jinguuji's character. I also like how Jinguuji continues to style his hair all fancy even while depressed after losing the love of his life.

Nah. Too common a foible. Grab Jinguuji's hand, drag him to their usual izakaya, get their usual seats, point at all of Tachibana Hinata's 'usual' items on the menu and stare at him petulantly until that big, beautiful brain of his realises that the girl in front of him can't speak, and is Tachibana.
Drag him to Tachibana's home first. But yeah, that's a good plan.

Last time, when speaking was forbidden, writing on Jinguuji's back was permitted. So he could also just grab pen and paper? Jinguuji might recognize his childhood friends handwriting.

Not to be too woke, but calling a romance story like this "gaslighting" is just thinly-veiled homophobia, man. Just say the thing with your whole chest. "I think it's icky that two straight men got TRICKED into falling in love with each other." Perhaps they didn't feel that way initially but through 200 chapters of development they eventually got there organically, as in, a romance story had development? They weren't "gaslit" into anything?

That's even putting aside that my read on Jinguuji from chapter 1 was that he's a closeted gay in love with Tachibana. The whole story literally starts with the dude getting mad and cursing out GOD for turning his blowjob brother who he spent his entire adolesence cucking every time she tried to get some into a hot girl.

Also why the hell are you even reading 200 chapters of this shit when that's your underlying takeaway from this romantic development to begin with? The story laid out all its cards from the very start. If you had a problem with this dynamic you should have stopped before hitting the double digit chapter numbers at the bare minimum. "Oh I thought that it wouldn't go that way and they'd both end up in NORMAL heterosexual relationships after" yeah, you would think that huh?
honestly in some ways, this story is that in itself- (the gays can only properly be in love if they're hetero)
however I'm overanalyzing, and that trope has been around for a long time
that said the trans themes are decent I think

Yeah there could be a comp-het reading but, honestly, with stuff like Rise being so casually bisexual and Shen being so unashamedly gay and their real issues being their attitudes, I don't really think it's the intention. Yoshida's backstory is another element that could be read as comp-het but then there's the reveal they didn't actually confess to their crush, and they seem pretty content assuming a masculine identity, meanwhile in the same arc Nazuna feels guilty about her feelings once she knows their past, and Tachibana talks to both of them about having feelings for someone of their same gender. Further along, the whole 3 arcs where Tachibana and Jinguuji got gender shuffled went into Tachibana's feelings about identity a bit beyond being with Jinguuji, even if ultimately related to how she saw her relationship with Jinguuji, she makes a declaration of her own identity and her own choice...

I am rambling a bit, but what I want to say in TL;DR way is, I don't think comp-het or TS-HS is the intention of the series even if those may be possible problematic readings of it.

highly doubt it, I don't think Tachibana will go back to her male "self," the story already stablished she didn't want to. I think the equivalent would be pretty twisted from the frog prince, who is cursed with being a frog, and the prince has to explain and convince the princess to break the curse (originally it was about getting married but it evolved to being just a kiss). Here that would mean interpretting Tachibana being a woman as a curse to be lifted, your idea of the kiss from Tachibana breaking the "curse" would be contradictory to having to prove her identity. Here the issue is Jinguuji who is grieving for his friend has no idea she is in front of him because he simply did not have that adventure and doesn't have his copy's memories.

While I don't think the kiss idea is bad, I don't think the frog prince equivalent is going to be anywhere near it.
Well, I didn't say the word 'curse', but I guess you can put it this way. How I see the story is that Tachibana cursed himself (with the help of a goddess) to be in that state because he felt unloved and didn't accept himself. Story shown us that it was not true in the first place and the human Tachibana loved the most loved him back exactly the way he was already. So there is no real point for him to stay as a copy of Mother Goddess. On the other hand there are lots of ties left in the fantasy world and again I won't be surprised if the Goddess of Love will use the power of love released during their confession in real world to transport them back to fantasy world to all their friends who accepted their relationship already and perhaps to reconcile Jinguji's memories (not so sure about that aspect). That would be a great finale and a chance to tell about the fate of the fantasy world after the battle.

I see what you mean better now. I thought of the "curse" implication despite you not mentioning it because The Frog Prince's tale is very much about a curse. I wouldn't think of Tachibana being "cursed" with that form that's made after the Mother Goddess, even if I wholly agree that the journey is very much about Tachibana learning self-love and recognizing her feelings.

Will not comment on what I expect from the ending, I think there's many ways it could go that could be seen as a rightful happy ending and depend on how it's handled, it's true that Tachibana made many ties in the other world but also Jinguuji is not the only person she left behind in Japan after being summoned, Tachibana's parents and little sister have been brought up a few times, who Jinguuji himself considered more his own family because they were much more loving.

One thing I could see, and think could be pretty neat, if Tachibana got a new form that wasn't her original self, but made after the wish just before the summoning without being a copy of the Mother Goddess, could be interpreted as a "true Tachibana" considered Tachibana already once called her current form the "true form" right after the end of the gender shuffle part of the story.
