The 1101 electric locomotive on display at Spencer Street in September 1954. This marked the last time the locomotive was seen publicly, as it was scrapped the following year in 1955. It was never preserved.

V-Line N451 'City of Portland'; my favorite diesel electric locomotive

These N class branch-line locomotives were introduced in 1925 by Victorian Railways after a policy was set for locomotives to be built to be gauge converted. They were also a bit too long for the branch-lines they ran. The class were retired in 1966 and 2 examples have survived.

Z522 and Z524 were built by the Phoenix Foundry in Ballarat for Victorian Railways in 1893. Both were steam passenger motors with a full length cab which was later reduced to reveal the chimneys and domes. Both locomotives were scrapped in 1910 and 1911 respectively.

One kid in my class used to out of nowhere yell out the phrase "choo-choo" during a lesson in order to provoke me.

Y108 preforming shunting duties at North Melbourne in 1959. This locomotive has been preserved at the Newport Railway Museum.

Z526 was built in 1893 at Newport Workshops by Victorian Railways as a Z class. This cute little engine was rebuilt in 1904 to have a steam powered crane on top and was referred to as "Polly". She was withdrawn in 1978 and is now at Science Works in it's 1890s condition.
