Shit happens so abruptly in this manga , is the LN the same way or is it just the adaptation making things feel so cheap and inconsistent?

It seems like he's just playing a round in his game (hence why he doesn't have the slightest hesitation about what he's doing), or at least he thinks he's just playing a round in his game (could be that he was ported in unknowingly or they just play it straight).
