Yeah, the sister is pretty gross, it's basically mother, daughter brainwashing. Though mahiro is a doormat/very immature, he has no traits that define his personality like an adult would, and because of that, he's unable to do anything, but go with the flow of his sister.

@aiyikes It's probable easily manipulated children might see a manga like this at some point, and if suddenly after reading it they decide they have no gender or think they're meant to be a girl, they could ruin their life before it began. Hating something for that is justifiable I would say.
