Honestly, as someone who reads the novel, reading all the speculation and theories on Ruda this chapter is really funny. Some are way off the mark, some are only half right, and some are actually spot on in their assessments.

When Stark said he wasn't much older than Fern in a previous chapter, I thought he was like 2-3 years older than her but this chapter shows they're basically the same age. Fern turned 16 in Year 27. This chapter takes place in Year 29 with Stark turning 18 so he's not even a year older than Fern.
