It's such a shit rushed ending and that's all on the author. He probably wanted to experiment with the idea of a neglected loli + soft spot yakuza, then got bored and ended it without developing the characters past some traits. We never know how the mother mended her ways after she was chosen...

@nakanowatari It's bad as raw fish going bad when you leave it at room temperature during summer.

It's a japanese word game where they make the person say pizza 10 times or so and then point to the elbow (hiza) and ask what it is, the person would usually say pizza and lose but here Shoutarou actually says "hisa" and wins. He won the game but stopped saying pizza so he became frustrated.
