I hate pushy male characters, but Aiko and the other main are so dysfunctional, a character like this is probably entirely necessary to push the story forward.

I don't think I've ever wished the FMC would ditch the male main character more. I am sooo over these shoujo plots where the male character just arbitrarily ditches the female character, can't even be bothered to contact her, and expects her to just wait. N a h.

Idk I think it's pretty obvious that they're going to lead up to Wahei and Hotaka not being related - they seem to have written a lot of similarities into the loneliness of their character's, and that's probably intentional for the purpose of later character growth and plot points. Just a guess...
