A really lovely manga so far. The historical style is extremely well done, and the three main characters (including the cat, of course) are very understandable and easy to identify with. I think "nice" is the adjective I would choose to describe this story. They are very nice people...

I just re-read the entire series. I was again impressed with the mangaka's amazing insight into people. Also the last chapter was heartbreaking. Even more so because it was so underplayed. That is a real writer's gift. I'm in awe of her skill.

I also agree. The depth of her characters is incredible. There are no cliche characters, and they all act believably. Umino Sensei's knowledge of human nature is really amazing. I'm anxiously awaiting the 14th volume.

A new chapter, thanks to Timeless Scans. I still find myself amazed at Kodama Yuki's artwork and great story lines. I got hooked with Sakamichi no Apollon, and I'm enjoying this just as much.

This is a gem and definitely deserves the awards that it received! I'm really sad that none of it has been scanlated for over five years. The depth of the characters and the mangaka's insight into human nature are incredible. I really hope someone picks it up one of these days.

I did enjoy this manga, but felt that the description was pretty unfair to Ulises. If he was, in fact, boorish and inflexible, (I spent many years in the military) his wife's former suitor who attacked him would have been clapped in irons at the very least and quite possibly executed. Her...

MangaDex, Thanks for finally posting this on the site. It's the story that really got me into manga nearly ten years ago.

I really have to thank the scanlators for keeping up with this great manga. It's an absolute favourite and the mangaka is a genius.
