    Subaru to Suu-san - Vol. 1 Ch. 2 - Suu-san's Job

@BCS He said if this never happened they would have been "living" separately, not sleeping separately. They probably lived in separate apartments before and he's using that as an excuse because uncomfortable sleeping with her as a child. I'm not sure what you mean by "one of those manga."

Yuusha Party o Tsuihou Sareta Beast Tamer, Saikyou Shu Nekomimi Shoujo to Deau

@deathmailrock Oh I'm well aware that I'm not being forced to read this. I skimmed the chapters, saw a girl pledge to be his slave and immediately dropped it. I've been around the block enough times to identify exactly what kind of story this is. You're free to enjoy this, but that doesn't...

Yuusha Party o Tsuihou Sareta Beast Tamer, Saikyou Shu Nekomimi Shoujo to Deau

@deathmailrock Doing literally anything is just wish fulfillment. The only thing that wouldn't be is just sitting still until you starve to death. The element of wish-fulfillment I don't like here is specifically the self-insert aspect. Lazy authors just slap together a blank slate mary sue with...

    He Is a Magical Girl

@NuclearStudent It's difficult to say. What determines a person? Memories? We forget stuff all the time. Not just little things, important things too. If you argue that amnesia makes you a different person, but forgetting minor things does not, then where do you draw that line? It has to be...

    Kimi no Koto Tabeteii?

Well, I would've been shocked if I hadn't spent my entire childhood on the internet being blindsided by one depravity after another.

    Musume no Tomodachi

Is it better or worse that the author's female?

Isekai Tensei... Sareteneee! - Vol. 3 Ch. 22

@bladestorm91 Poor representation of human nature in media is not by any means unique to japanese works. It only feels like it because you probably consume a disproportionate amount of japanese media. If you doubt me go watch some mexican soaps. You also have to keep in mind that a very high...

Koujo Denka no Kateikyoushi - Vol. 1 Ch. 2

This entire chapter is just wall to wall exposition. It's like they decided to adapt a ln by just putting all the text into speech bubbles. Doesn't help that it's generic garbage.

Straight up laughing my ass off this whole chapter.

The Impregnable Demon King's Castle and the Expelled Black Mage of the Hero's Party

@Leechy Problem with the isekai "genre" is the lack of variety. If something falls under the comedy genre, that could cover a massive range of potential stories, but the concept of isekai is much more narrow. Still, there's quite a wide range of stories that could be told under the constraints...

The Impregnable Demon King's Castle and the Expelled Black Mage of the Hero's Party

I've seen literally this exact same premise in dozens of other series. I'm so fucking tired of ln adaptations that take place in generic fantasy world with video game logic. And of course the mc's all look the damn same and get abandoned/betrayed by their former allies so all the real life...

Chainsaw Man - Vol. 10 Ch. 84 - The Hero of Hell

@Dranto Yeah it's written and illustrated by Miyazaki himself! I highly recommend checking it out. It's scope extends far beyond the animated film. I don't think it's available on this site, but if you can track down a physical copy or find it somewhere else, give it a read, I hope you enjoy it.

    Seidon no Ryuu

Generic, juvenile, chuuni garbage. That edgy cover alone gave me secondhand cringe and the manga itself was worse.

Chainsaw Man - Vol. 10 Ch. 84 - The Hero of Hell

@Dranto True enough, that's why Fire Punch is the shakiest of the recommendations on my reading list. Dorohedoro absolutely oozes creativity and imagination. One of the most original manga I've ever read. Blame! Is one of my three favorite manga alongside Berserk and Nausicaä (if you haven't...

Chainsaw Man - Vol. 10 Ch. 84 - The Hero of Hell

@MRain It was a breath of fresh air because it didn't have a standard story that followed the same narrative beats I've seen a million times. Most authors are risk averse. Consciously or not, they end up following tried and true character and narrative arcs that have been done many times before...

Chainsaw Man - Vol. 10 Ch. 84 - The Hero of Hell

@Dranto @KreamPunk @MRain If this author has one major flaw, I'd say it's setup. He's likes having interesting things happen, but doesn't put in the work to organically build up to them. That's why a lot of stuff feels rushed or like it just came out of left field and the pacing suffers. Not...
