It seems like chapter 1 should actually be chapter 0, since it looks like it's a one-shot, and this should be the actual chapter 1. I was a little confused at first when "chapter 2" redid the intro.

Sadly, Japanese use the term breeding for managing and combining (ie fusion) monsters as well. I read a whole manga called monster breeder and it was just a guy catching and stuffing girls into his balls and then combining random monsters to get better random monsters.
