IIRC, the author has said that he was heavily influenced by Stellaris, Elite: Dangerous, Eve, etc. As someone with an unhealthy amount of time in Stellaris (over 3000 hours), it's pretty clear to see many of the influences, BUT it's worth nothing that he could go beyond the things that show up...
