Rereading this. It seems obvious that what happens in the following chapters is because they just plopped their temple in the middle of an opposing faction's territory.
@Ant1989 Yea, "Who knows" is the best way to put it. For me, this is the weakest part of the story so far. Either they leveled a city with no deaths or they slaughtered an untold number of civilians and the story just plays it as a joke.
Thanks for the HQ chapters. There was never a mention of the death toll in that town so I'm just going to assume this was cartoon destruction in which no one died.
Interesting; the enemy ships look a lot like European vessels when they first began traveling to and from eastern Asia. The friendly ships look a lot like what Japan would have had in that era and... oooh. I get it.
I wonder if the guy with the sword is another orphaned helper like Schnee was before Shin returned. Not every one of them would take that loss so well.
