I guess they don't want the world to feel too real, the demographic is cleary shonen despite the horrible things going on from time to time. Just like One Piece.

I think the author might be better suited to a romance story, with a side if adventure and/or slice of slice. This whole "epic fantasy" thing doesn't look like it's playing with their strengths.

Looks like this chapter is divisive. In my case I didn't like it because it had too much exposition, I think that if you need that much explaining you didn't do the pacing well. Less cute bonuses and more info between chapters, I'd say.
