This is rather ironic. In most novels, if the maids thought that the stepmother was forcing her stepson to eat peaches, they would gossip behind her back and think badly of her. Here, the maids think nothing of it and it seems to me that they think he should be treated more harshly.

It sounds like author has eccentric editors. When I read that part, I was a bit confused because I thought it was a light novel adaptation. But then I checked and saw that there's no adaption tag. This is apparently a manga original. I probably should have known that after reading the title...
