Hayami actually earlier says the MC treated her the same in Ch.7, but that smile is far less natural so the chemistry with Kano might have just been better. In any case, I agree it was quite opportunistic of the MC when he dove in.

From what I hear, it was removed; don't know why. I agree the 180 with Kano was contrived; the fact that Hayami didn't talk to Kano about what he said was unfortunate (as there is ambiguity on whether he meant he wasn't interested in Hayami since "he is a guy", or assumed Hayami wasn't...

Yup, it's a pretty short manga. I burn through manga pretty quick too. MD has a good bulk chapter uploader with auto incrementing, but I always feel I'm going to end up off by one on numbering the whole time I'm using it.
