Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 41 - Everything, Falling Apart

I am confused about what kind of point you are trying to make. So you agree with the notion that she needs to "remove herself from the shitshow" as means of standing up for herself and not being a doormat, but then you say that not removing herself from the shitshow is her being a super hero? So...

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 41 - Everything, Falling Apart

I agree with most of what you said (or at least think it might be true), but I don't think the "keep in touch" thing was the one that triggered her. I don't believe she thought of his attitude as of courtesy or being nice, it's more of a "he tried but accepted the rejection and didn't push...

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 41 - Everything, Falling Apart

I don't think she did that because of Hikari watching, I think she did it mainly because it was Yuu, while the former part was just an additional weight. I know she is questioning this part herself in this chapter, but people seem to think she did it solely to spite Hikari.

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 41 - Everything, Falling Apart

This is the opposite of what happened as shown in 2 previous chapters.

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 41 - Everything, Falling Apart

In this very chapter she says she knows Yuu would never do such things with a person he didn't have feelings for, so she doesn't treat their past relationship as a "mess she dragged him into". The only mess she could get angry at for his sake was the ghosting thing, but she's not aware of it yet.

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 41 - Everything, Falling Apart

I mean, just compare her monologues in both chapters. In ch. 40 she desperately wants him to recognise her lies, while here she desperately wants Hikari to stop her truth assault. Because, at the end of the day, admitting she still loves Yuu equals confronting Hikari to her.

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 41 - Everything, Falling Apart

Now that I think about, Yuu also had a reaction Yami wanted from Hikari. With Yuu she wanted him to see through her lies and recognize the feelings she still had. With Hikari she wanted her to just accept the lie (not believe it, as @Catbowl pointed out) and go along with Yuu's confession...

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 41 - Everything, Falling Apart

Also Maruto just had to give Hikari all the lines that Yami wanted to hear from Yuu. This is just glorious. Can't wait for the next volume. Feels like "I haven't thought a millimeter about the story from here on" is a cover-up for something, considering he already wrote a side story.

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 41 - Everything, Falling Apart

I sincerely hope she does. I hope she becomes the type of character who knows kindness can hurt and uses it (while still being actually kind). But until we know for sure, I will have to assume that Hikari is still being her naive kind angelic self from before. Which is my main gripe with her as...

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 40 - Gears Setting Chaos In Motion

This is definitely not the case of him being irresponsible. He was worried, he asked if he did something wrong, he was messaging her a lot. Yami thinks herself that she was the only one in the wrong and he wasn't responsible for any of it. It's not a matter of responsibility, it's a matter of...

Ch. 9: says Hikari in the middle of her second year of HS.

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 40 - Gears Setting Chaos In Motion

Her other thoughts are also explicitly "I didn't see him as a boy at all". She even goes and asks "why did I end up liking a guy like him". So I think the picture is very clear. Also her starting to notice him in a romantic way coinciding with certain events in his life show the author's intent...

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 40 - Gears Setting Chaos In Motion

I mean, starting to like the person because they like you is not impossible, but when she says herself she didn't see him as a boy at all, that's pretty much it for his chances. And I said this many times, but it's usually easy to tell when the person isn't interested in you at all. I meant the...

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 40 - Gears Setting Chaos In Motion

Well, I'm of the opposite opinion. I think they were both in their own right to not confess their feelings until they were certain it wouldn't ruin their friendship. I don't think either should be blamed for not being open, especially middle school Yuu who saw how hopeless and one-sided it was...

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 40 - Gears Setting Chaos In Motion

But when Hikari isn't open about it, it's fine? Before you start saying she is not going on dates with other boys, Yuu is not giving her signals that he doesn't care at all and is not introducing her to his friends. Trying to set him up with other girls and even getting annoyed at him for not...

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 40 - Gears Setting Chaos In Motion

By agreeing to meet those girls, he is lying how? So he should just be open about liking her? I'm not seeing a logical chain between "Not seeing the girls Hikari sets him up with" and "Their relationship going well in present".

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 40 - Gears Setting Chaos In Motion

By setting what expectations? He didn't even go out with those girls, and at the end made it clear he was not into it. I'm asking again, if he refused those invitations, how would that help? What would that achieve? There is no connection at all. Please explain how going along with what Hikari...

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 40 - Gears Setting Chaos In Motion

And how could that help to avoid this situation? If he refused to meet the girls Hikari set him up with, then what, she would've suddenly started liking him? Should I remind you when she actually started seeing him in a romantic way?

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 40 - Gears Setting Chaos In Motion

In the future, if he works hard and impresses her. But at that moment she clearly didn't care. If he showed he was not interested in other girls, what was that going to achieve? How would that change things?

Imasara desu ga, Osananajimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita - Ch. 40 - Gears Setting Chaos In Motion

What is the point of making her aware when she is setting him up with other girls? That's just a clear sign she doesn't like him romantically at all, and this is exactly why he didn't want her to know he liked her, it was obviously one-sided and would only have made things awkward between them.
