What an oppressively progressive place Midland is... where Griffith can be fabulous in broad daylight while Guts must hide his straightness in the shadows, lmao
I know the religious establishment here is hell bent against magic use, but surely their spy networks aren't so pathetic they haven't gotten an idea of what their enemies are capable of?
Lol that chapter early on in which Guts cleaves that giant soldier and the pillar behind him is still stuck in my mind! Serpico brought a handgun to a tank fight.
Rodrik's a straight talker, that's good. (We'll have to see about his character.)
Also, he called Farnese a White Lily. Lily... yuri... yuri in this manga... yuri manga... wait -- GIRL'S LOVE CONFIRMED!
The old shepherd seems pretty worldly, the way he described the port city situation. He didn't even comment on the ridiculous slab of iron on Guts' back.
Indie band Hawk hits the big time
Frontman Griff sells out his bandmates
He then fills Hawk with random celebs
Goes on a Midland-wide tour
... AND THE FANS LOVE IT!
Chapters such as these remind me why Berserk has the reputation it does. It isn't just a (first-rate) tale of war and battles. It shall be remembered for as long as manga is read anywhere.
