Division Chief Shima Kōsaku - Vol. 10 Ch. 124 - Love Story

It's always nice seeing a new volume pop up since I work a slow graveyard shift so it gives me something to do during the night. You would think that for a volume late in this particular series there'd be a little more wrapping up but it seems like it's set up even more plot threads than ever...

Mou Ippon! - Vol. 8 Ch. 64 - Fire Lid

One thing this series is always good at is conveying the build up and anticipation at the start of a tournament. Also, Sakae! One of my favorite teams! Then again, I can't think of any teams I really dislike.

Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House - Vol. 27 Ch. 285 - The Best and Last Spring Dance

Tsurukoma is way too important a character to just casually toss aside after leaving the manor. She's been there since the start so I don't doubt that she'll continue showing up or getting spotlighted. Especially if ones like Momoko can have long storylines dedicated to them. If nothing else, it...

Mou Ippon! - Vol. 8 Ch. 62 - The Holy and The Dead

Given the professional level trap in Nagumo's class, Aobanishi is just very highly skilled in everything.

Mou Ippon! - Vol. 8 Ch. 62 - The Holy and The Dead

In case it wasn't obvious for whatever reason, Shiho (the girl at the end) was the one who contacted Sano at the end of the previous chapter.

Sengoku Komachi Kuroutan: Noukou Giga - Vol. 16 Ch. 76 - Motherhood

If you're going to snipe at least be competent. Anyone who just releases a shitty MTL translation, sniping or otherwise, deserves whatever shit gets tossed at them.

Mou Ippon! - Vol. 8 Ch. 61 - Joining The Circle

    I'm glad we're finally at Seijo's introduction.

    Mou Ippon! - Vol. 7 Ch. 60 - Target

In this case, he actually did do judo in high school and I believe still does it recreationally.

    Mou Ippon! - Vol. 7 Ch. 59 - Rookies

He apparently was an assistant of Shuzo Oshimi (or maybe it was the other way around? I've seen it said both ways) and I think you can definitely see Oshimi's influence on his art early on, especially in, of all things, the way hair is drawn and rendered.

    Mou Ippon! - Vol. 7 Ch. 59 - Rookies

It's not like the art was bad before or anything but he definitely did move away a bit from the more moe style of the first volume or so without ever really losing the skill or detail. The insane thing is that the quality of the art never drops which is usually expected as a weekly goes. It was...

    Mou Ippon! - Vol. 7 Ch. 59 - Rookies

Interesting enough, there actually is a timeline for this series and it's not just a weird, ambiguous floating one. It starts in 2018 (when the manga did) and ends in 2020 with the epilogue final chapter being in 2023. One minor nitpick, I believe that "Jino" is actually Jinno. But I don't know...

    Mou Ippon! - Vol. 7 Ch. 58 - Succession

I don't think it's him being ignorant of how certain things come off though. The various relationships, like Towa/Amane or Natsume/Inui, feel way too on the nose in the tone they give off.

We should all have Michi's confidence.

Otaku ni Yasashii Gal wa Inai!? - Vol. 4 Ch. 29 - Otaku & Gyaru & Firework Rumors

It started out well but yeah, it's hit the phase that every romance series with a love triangle inevitably hits where the author refuses to do anything more than micro advancement and fakeouts while never making a decision both because baiting out a love triangle is a lazy and easy way to keep...

Ponkotsu Fuukiiin to Skaato take ga Futekisetsu na JK no Hanashi - Ch. 72 - The Story of The Dumb Girl’s Part Time Job

I think the problem is more that there's no real hook for her. Most of the characters seem to be parodying/subverting romcom cliches like Akina and Ranko doing the love triangle. But Kei seems like a straightforward version of the "love rival who liked the ML from afar but doesn't have a chance"...

Ponkotsu Fuukiiin to Skaato take ga Futekisetsu na JK no Hanashi - Ch. 72 - The Story of The Dumb Girl’s Part Time Job

Kei is by far the weakest part of what's an otherwise great series. She feels really pointless and doesn't seem to add much of anything to the point where I forget she exists until she appears again.

Mou Ippon! - Vol. 7 Ch. 57 - Bery Bery

There's definitely some fan service (the next chapter is the beach chapter) but it's not done in an egregious way meant to call attention to it if that makes sense. The author is just really good at drawing female characters and coming up with nice, memorable designs. The number of notable...

Mou Ippon! - Vol. 7 Ch. 57 - Bery Bery

The manga ended a few months ago. Ranting/tangeting a bit but personally, I feel like the ending is a little flat simply because the author from the beginning wanted the series to run 30 volumes but by the time the climactic match finishes, there's only a few chapters left and the Kinshuuki...

Sister and Giant: A Young Lady Is Reborn in Another World - Vol. 5 Ch. 19

Otherworlders with cheats take over and form a royal famliy. Naturally they will ensure their blood descendants are the heirs because that's how dynasties work. Maybe the first few generations were good rulers and it's only a few in that things went south, or only otherworlders can use this tech.
