The original had the guild master be the one to hire the assassin, instead of it being the murderhobo guild member and the receptionist. He is then sticking around as the perpetual "look how bad his situation is" side chapters without much interaction with the main cast. I would def say stuff...

technically it was that she said she left a heavy game running, which doesn't necessarily mean playing it (could happen if editing at the same time), nor does it exclude the possibility of just slacking off.

Nah, it's been this way since the timeskip from his childhood, aka for majority of the story. Which, i guess technically it was a battle against a singularity (the summoner witch from this arc), but it's been fairly consistent on this point.

rereading, it was actually just "twice as strong" which is vague, and I don't actually know the stat difference factor, but yea, it was harsher than i rememebered ("you're basically dead" being what was said vs what i thought to be "hard time")

it's been brought up even in recent chapters, but you level up at the same rate based on kills, but get less stats if you get "safe" exp. mc and gang always try to make things a bit harder on themselves so they gain more stats even at low levels, hence why mc was told even double his level...
