When you're awkwardly forced in a situation where you're basically cursed to a slow and agonizing death for the sake of others, I can kind of see why she would massively break down under the stress of it all. Especially when besides the kids, the villagers clearly don't care for her condition...
Well it's nice that for once it's not so much the protagonist pulling a new power out of their ass, as realizing other people can do what he's doing but better and thus move to learn from that.
Well, that's one hell of a foreshadowing of Sauro's singlemindedly selfish nature. I get the feeling after all the emphasis that those two kids got, we're gonna see the aftermath of one of them being killed because of his choice.
