It's unfortunate that Kaoru never gets a chance to show off any ability in these arcs. It's just a role of damsel, dojo mom, or Yahiko's teacher. It would be nice if she got to be at least considered strong by Meji standards, even if not anywhere near Kenshin's.

Unless the MC is a cook, a manga is only allowed to have one character in the main set that can't cook (or impossibly makes poisons/demonic alchemy)

Most of my exposure to the Shinsengumi comes from Rurouni Kenshin. Still, this seems like a humanity win going into it, though I also could see putting humanity in a sudden death state for the rest of the matches. Rasputin and Nostradamus I don't really want to fight. Maybe Odin will kick off...

So, basically they've been 'working out' with using magic w/ the Goddess as their spotter, but she keeps helping them lift most of the weight on each rep, so the rate at which they get stronger w/ magic is vastly reduced as a side effect of her 'help'.

Not fond of the nuke the town threat. The fault is on 3 guys and the people who were paid to spread the rumors. Wiping out the town would just punish or kill like 5k/50k/etc people for the actions of 3.
