Check out Lady Snowblood/Shura Yukihime, it's a great read <3 (Do also check out its movie adaptation, easily one of the best live-action manga adapation)

The magazine it was serialized in only lasted 6 months, and the series was cancelled alongside it. I warn you that the ending does feel abrupt because of that but I hope you'll still stick with it. I'll include a page talking about the series' history at the end of the final chapter
