After the first couple of pages, I was ready to have my heart crushed. I'm so glad that didn't happen! This was one of the best axed endings I've read. And hell, as unlikely as this is, there is still lots of Ponko's story that could be told.
The world has a similar vibe as the first few episodes of Last Exile, both in the steampunk setting and the undertone of personal loss. This is some good stuff!
