@Stap As you guessed, the first name is Momotarou, and in the folk tale, Momotarou was accompanied by a dog(inu), monkey(saru), and pheasant(tori). Not too sure about the pheasant bit, but basically it is momotarou vs the onis.

@Flare77 It's still one day at a time. It's how we deal with it. Must say, this manga has brought the joy of reading fantasy mangas to me again. I'm loving every single chapter so far.

Putting choices of words for the translation aside, thank you to the scanlators for giving us the chapters. As for the manga itself, it's... very different from Magi. The characters feel directionless, and it seems like she's trying to give them more depth, but they just came off indecisive...

In most mangas pilot chapter, it'd usually ends right about the time the yakuza dude barges in, with ominous sfx and forewords and shit. Which takes about 30~40 pages where we get to see what the MC's "normal" life is supposed to be. Here we reach that point like 10 pages in, with almost nothing...

In less than a chapter he's mastered a skill to the point it has homing and no chant, then also a drop from a rare variant. I doubt this is gonna be that different from most isekais out there. Just another case of you-say-potato-I-say-pteloamaious-but-it's-still-potato.
