Could someone please explain page 31 to me? If "Aruna's family had horses but no wealth," then I don't understand why "they did their absolute best to borrow horses from other houses."
@MC_Gigglepants UM1 and his brother are distant ancestors of Tokitou. Tanjirou is seemingly unrelated to them, though the brother did save Tanjirou's distant ancestor at some point (See Chapter 99).

I think you're reading it wrong here. Nariyuki doesn't say that there are education colleges that accept the recommendation. He acknowledges that he could take education classes at the colleges that do accept the recommendation. Since the "teaching courses" bit is a follow-up to...

Pages 7 and 8 of this chapter show that that explicitly is the case. Nariyuki outright says that he can't use the VIP recommendation because none of those colleges offer a suitable program for him. The "start from scratch" bit is about him learning how to be a teacher properly...
