This not a new technique for any comic at all,having an entire chapter dedicated to being a flashback with the only prompt being the black backdrop. So the problem lies in the fact you expected an indicator,which it doesn't need aside from the black backdrop... ...and the obvious as Hell...

Also, @Laztigger ,why has Salty Road been crossed out between chapters 163 and the current 164 + 165?

I had to read three or four different sites,since a lot of those chapters were ripped straight from Crunchyroll,with each site being liable to perish(which all but the last did),and had been stagnant for a while after Crunchyroll proved that it continues to be a detriment to society by abruptly...
