What a TERRIBLE idea... using OXYGEN to clear a room full of FLAMMABLE GAS and EMBERS...
They should all be super dead...

This is such bullshit... good job expert! make the atmosphere even more flammable and then direct the whole thing right to the embers... This begs for a triple face palm.

me: That's pretty cool.

also me, because I'm taking bio classes: this is stupid, oxygen is highly flammable.

@Spookie, @shubh68, @Tikibo, @GigAnon @o5938553 - Firefighters use compressed air and not pure oxygen in their tanks. Example.

By spraying the compressed air in the room, he is thinning out the concentration of paint fumes. Then, when he is spraying the concentrated air out the window, he is changing the air flow and blowing away the embers much like you would fan away dust in the air.

@Akule thanks that's what I thought, but is it common to call them oxygen tanks? I thought in English there is a distinction between them.

@Tikibo @shubh68 - Yeah, people will still call them oxygen tanks, even though they are full of compressed air.

One of the reasons why they don't have pure oxygen in the tanks is because they are going into a burning building. If anything happened to the tank when they were inside, then they would explode. They would be carrying bombs on their backs. That's why it is just compressed air.

@Akule yeah I took a step back and thought about it lol. It would be really stupid for firefighters to actually carry large oxygen tanks in the first place. it'll be a domino effect of explosions

I don't understand though. Why the construction guy collapse?
They worry about embers coming in but they keep opening the window. Don't tell me the room has no door? Why don't they enter through the door? Why don't they just drag the unconscious guys through the door and close the windows and doors quickly so embers won't come in instead of opening and closing the windows so many times?

Summary of comments:

Firefighter: Omg he’s such a genius why couldn’t I think of that?

Literally all readers: Why aren’t you able to think of using the door?! Surely that room has a door?!!

Note: Firefighters carry compressed air, which is not pure oxygen.

wait a minute....... if the tank is pressurized and you release the gas from it, the air pressure in the room will equalize with the air pressure outside from air escaping from the room, so where would all the paint fumes escape to? It would go outside.
