I've never really been one to like these mother/daughter themes, but this one is a definite exception--- and by that, I mean it's exceptional. Can't wait for it resume

Where is the second part T_T
I was subbed to their pixiv for a while and checked out some of their stuff on the Japanese Amazon, and from what it looks like, the mangaka is redoing the whole thing. Which is to say, there isn't a second part yet, and at this rate I don't know how long it'll be before this story picks up from where it left off. If it ever does.

If its being redone, is it under a new name? Is it being translated? Where?
It is under the same title, although the English title has been formalized as "1x1/2 - My Half Of You" or "My Half Of You" (the same title as when Sekai Project briefly localized it).

There was a translation effort, first on Fanbox then on Fantia, but restrictions on foreign credit cards made continuing impossible this year (it had gradually become quite slow even before this point, and the QC was questionable at times), so Taiyaki opened up the Everyone Translate (I think the English branding used is "Translators Unite" but maybe that's a separate thing) function on DLSite as an alternative. I believe this essentially allows fan translations to be sold there with a revenue split or something, but somebody has to actually translate it.

That said, despite the redrawn art, the story has had very minor changes, and especially in the first volume you can mostly expect the same dialogue. In progression, I think it is up to around Vol 4 of the old series.

dang, I did not realize what a full redraw would entail for it to be still going 5 years on

I figured it would be like a year or two wait, but I'm guessing she's also been working on other projects as well

what a place to soft end tho

Taiyaki basically did a full life reset in that time - moving, trying to handle the demand for official translations, working out physical printing logistics (whether to go digital-only instead, whether to keep shipping books herself vs whether print-on-demand was acceptable quality, getting samples from the POD providers, testing store fulfillment methods), and resolving some pretty serious ergonomic/health issues related to not really ever having a break from 1x1/2 since it started. That also let her do some formal art training and look into 3D scene planning (which unfortunately meant an end to the charming weirdly-drawn clocks of the original manga, I miss them). There's also been a ton of publisher/payment processor/platform problems and administrative work: she used both Fantia and Fanbox for a while, tried to simplify things by consolidating down to just Fanbox, then had to switch back to Fantia and reupload everything when Pixiv got pressured by Visa/MC to start banning vaguely controversial content. And that's just some of it (ignoring COVID entirely, for example).

There was definitely a little "side project" stuff (like organizing the oyako yuri anthology and doing some follow-ups) but I don't feel like it was that distracting in comparison to all the administrative headaches - resuming Yuru Oyako definitely took a back seat to getting 1x1/2 out regularly. Things seem stable at the moment, and I think with the recent release of the redrawn Ch12 we're up to around Vol 6.

As far as I can see on the author's fantia, we're up to chapter 14 as of last month. Does anyone know if it really is just a redraw of this version? Are there any alterations made in the story? Is the pacing the same? Does it mean the new chapter 14 covers the same content as the old chapter 14?

I haven't read it as I'm waiting for more chapters to be released before subscribing and trying my hand at reading it in japanese. Maybe someone who's following it more closely can answer these questions.

There are more substantial pacing/chapter content differences at this point - I've mostly been following Taiyaki's blog posts rather than the updates (I've been putting together a timeline of the old version and just get mixed up trying to keep the new version's events separate in my head), but IIRC Ch11 is more consolidated Jun/Rui/childhood stuff, Ch12 is a new Ayako/Asuka shopping date that doesn't exist in the original, and Ch13-Ch14-Ch15-probably Ch16 are now the wedding / middle school / meeting Miyuki arc, breaking up "eternal chapter 13" that existed before. I think the (very important) old 13.1 and 13.1+a, which technically should start in the summer of Asuka's first year, are also in the new version somewhere but don't remember where they're placed. That's not to say it's just a redraw + dividing up the chapters differently -- there are light-moderate content differences as well -- but that's the high-level summary.

Taiyaki makes all the chapters prior to the most recently released volume free and Vol3 will be released for Comitia 154 in late Nov, so you can read Vol1 without subscribing and Vol2 should be available pretty soon. You will want to check Xfolio rather than Fantia as the Fantia page is being deleted at the end of this month and Xfolio is where all the free chapters are posted (it's also a million times easier to subscribe to than Fantia was for those without a JCB card). She also really doesn't care if people subscribe for a month to catch up and drop out or whatever; each volume costs about the same as a subscription, and she's said several times that if she ever reached the point she could rely on book sales alone she'd dissolve the paid tiers and make all the updates free, so hopefully that takes some of the friction out of reading the raws.
