I just read a few of the initial chapters, so I cannot say for sure, but from where I stopped, he does asks the why and what would happen should he or the girl fall for someone else, and he accepts to act as her fiancé. Now if there's a love triangle or whatever, idk, but by the looks of it, it appears to be a slow burn rom-com of the two getting more intimate

The maid could just chalk it up to the MC being smart and looking for ways to protect his childhood friend. Him turning in the homework now also aligns with that interest because for all the abuse the Grandpa did he also likely protected her from the other family members by isolating her like he did. Like full stop that grandad rented an apartment and hired a maid, it's not like he fully abandoned her like the father did (he still could have done more though). Now though her guardianship is up for grabs and she's open to being exploited by... less savory family members, which this family clearly has if there's blackmail material available.

Yes, I decided to check some of the novel myself.

MC gave them a list with many names, but feared it not being useful as they were all scandals in the future, thankfully the one that got the list was competent, the girl grandmother, and as she was already have her eyes on some of their names she investigated more and discovered some had indeed created problems, not everyone, but that was enough.
MC had even written the girl father name, he didn't knew who he was and was surprised from it.
The grandmother accepted MC info because the girl mother was friend with the MC one, so they thought his mom had investigated personally to help the heroine, as the 2 mothers had promised each other.
The thing makes sense because they would think MC and his mom had talked about it and he only had the names and the mother had the data.
I think that the chapter with the grandma will cover the names and stuff.
