I think it was his Mom's belt, actually. I've got a theory that the hero Eri mentions in chapter 5 was Sen's mom, and the person she failed to save was Sen and Honoka's father.

I love this series, but keep in mind you are only thinking rate one suck because the series is about a rate 1000, and they deliberately do that. @xl they also acknowledge they can't do shit against flamebola man but their job is to save lives.

The mimic / old man for example could likely be wiped by a rate 1 but he didn't want to be remembered as a monster, but to be fair your thinking is about the same as if heroes were real, the boys style, people would mock those whose powers weren't awesome, heroes who were dicks would now have powers and likely be able to get off more easily by any number of claims or companies.
