Was going to say that ending was SO depressing. His wife is sending him a letter and he just died because he broke out for her. It would of been less sad if she moved on, but now it's just messed up.

I thought that she was sending the letter late but as you said. She's probably sent like 100 already but they just tossed them. Either way could of prompted him escape though. Knowing she's waiting for him vs knowing she forgot him.

@BuffSoul My guess without seeing any spoilers is that the government and that guy with the pills either have similar goals, are related or are working together. They likely don't see monsters as human anymore and have at best no plans on doing anything more than disposal and lockup. The whole thing at worst could be enticing the lust of corrupt or well meaning individuals into the classic research and development of all sorts of things you would get with the ability to study superhuman specimens. They themselves either being monsters themselves or desiring the power of monsters.

Its all cliche but its cliche because its exactly what happens on these situations. I don't know about your government but the one in my country sanctioned genocide until 1924. Literally crooks and proud of it, also stupid. They would 100% go for the evil research or kowtow to whoever was.
