This chapter finally made me like Yuuji. Seems weird to say that but honestly he's been such a boring character until now, he needed something like this to give him an emotional kick. This chapter gave me some hard HunterxHunter vibes with Gon, I mean Yuuji literally has nothing going for him but can't die. So I'd imagine his Curse Energy right now is through the fucking roof.
I'd like to think that Mahito will lose to him here, but it's also possible that he escapes and leaves Yuuji even more empty, having failed to stop Mahito twice.
Depends on what the Mangaka is thinking. Especially with what the next section for JJK is supposed to entail.
Overall though, Sukuna did quite a bit of work in favor of the Shamans DESPITE his mass slaughter of humans. I mean he solo'd a special grade (Jogo), and saved Megumi while killing another enemy in the process. On top of that Yuuji got rid of Choso and might potentially get rid of Mahito. I feel like it's sorta stupid for the Shamans to decide to execute him just because some humans died in the process, ESPECIALLY if Gojo is still captured by the end of the arc. I mean who do the Shamans even have left at that point to rely on? They'd be better off praying that Yuuji somehow figures out how to control Sukuna.
I feel like a split is coming soon for Yuuji and Sukuna. It feels like the right thing to do, to give Yuuji the opportunity to have that 'out', but him choosing to reject death to destroy Sukuna.
It's also possible that Sukuna permanently takes over Yuuji for some time, but I feel like that'd hurt Yuuji as a character too much in terms of writing - which is why I suggest the split as an alternative.
Maybe that's what happens when they finally rescue him from the execution, that it's just Yuuji and Sukuna is nowhere to be found.
