Oh right, let me pull up all the data from the success modern silat has in combat sports. Some wushu and kungfu have existed for 4,000 years but they are rarely used next to modernized and improved techniques.

Bruh it's straight up there on the wiki page, don't get mad you can't use google.
"Pencak silat - Wikipediaen.wikipedia.org › wiki › Pencak_silat
Today it is the standard unarmed martial art of the Indonesian National Armed Forces. It includes weapons but focuses more on empty-handed self-defense and ..."

Fucking badassery. Just straight up "Small guy beating up large guy" shit. Last time i remember feeling this sensation is Cosmo vs Adam.

Now i ain't afraid to come up to my dad and say to his face "Silat's the best" (he believed in the power of Royce Gracie)

@seirio thanks for the salt but I'm aware of what Silat is. I'm talking about it's lack of prevalence in modern competive combat sports, which google could also help you with

"Pencak silat is included in the Southeast Asian Games and other region-wide competitions. Pencak silat first made its debut in 1987 Southeast Asian Games and 2018 Asian Games, both were held in Indonesia"

Seems like you still need help with google bae. Or are you gonna bitch about the other seldom/unused or unrealistic fighting styles like Bartitsu, Pankration, the Niko style, the Kure style, Mikazuchi superspeed style, or razor's edge?

@seirio Lol I'm not bitching about anything. I can't even remember what my original comment was that has you so upset. I think Silat and other martial arts like Akido are super cool but I was probably saying something about how they aren't prevalent in modern mixed martial arts. And they are not. It's not really a debate lol That doesn't mean they don't exist or have some useful techniques. It means there are not and haven't been many if any instances of fighters in actual major mixed martial arts promotions that have found success with Silat as a base because better striking styles like Muay Thai have precendent however you could argue that is also because there are many similar techniques in other styles and styles like Krav Maga are said to be influenced by it and some wacky bastards have claimed KM as their style in the UFC. But surprisingly even fighters from ONE FC don't seem to have much competitive Silat representation beyond respect for it's tradition.

@seiruo your point about all the goofy styles is solid though. I was probably just nitpicking because I love legitamite martial arts even in goofy series. Humans have learned more about martial arts in the last 30 years than we have for thousands of years because we have such high amounts of recorded visual data for what happens when styles and specialists clash in organizations like Pride, Dream, Rings, UFC, Strikeforce, Bellator, ONE, and even Pancrase and Shooto; but there is so much steeped in traditionalism that a lot of Boomer mentality dominates conversations about older styles. Styles that would get you waxed in modern competition.
