@rkkn His whole background was clawing his way up from the bottom, being able to blow some money on something that could make him an even better fighter shouldn't have taken so long that he wasn't still pretty young by the time he tried it the first time unless it was just prohibitively expensive, but she said it was 5 silver for the first time. Looking at another chapter around here, some street vendor food was a few coppers. Five silver sounds like it's about in that middle range, you wouldn't want to waste that amount, but it's not so much that you can't set aside to save for it for a while if you're actively working to get by. It's the kind of investment most people have to consider for adventuring anyway, it's like equipment purchases or repairs.
