You are probably right, since reading over it made no sense to be honest. Does it mean someone who doesn’t normally have the fastest time, got the fastest time? Yariba referred to that person in a non gender specific way, so I couldn’t even tell if it was a he or she. So I assumed that he was talking about ume

Edit: I'm reading the light novel now. It also uses a non gender specific term, but I think it's safe to assume he wasn't talking about ume. (he refers to that person as "koitsu", yet refers to umeno as "ume" everytime) I'll bring this up in the next chapter

Might be time for me to read the novel for a better idea as to what exactly is going on lmao

Fun fact, turns out the entire 29 chapters is covered in two volumes of the novel

Fun fact: Novel's first two volumes read like a two parter and they come up to 830~ pages together. Most light novels tend to range between 240~320 pages.

>he wanted to corner him in order to be able to use him to get his grandaughter to quit writting. Maybe he planned the whole thing all along.
Heh.
You are still underestimating his power. The crafty old bastard has keikakus within keikakus.

I'm so glad this didn't subvert my expectations so far. I thought it would've been another harem nonsense series, but something told me to stick around, and I'm glad to see it ended up being what I wanted to see: a psychological office drama. Props to the guy for writing the story he wanted to write while having to flavor it harem romcom for sales.
