That was a large tale of weddings last chapter. I wonder if he already knows Honjouji is the one from the rumours and was testing her a bit since that last chapter part feels odder now.

@Ainzell My assumption is the expectations and traditions. As a kid it was probably no issue, but as he got older his father seems like he may have been pushing for the MC to live a certain way, follow a certain path, etc. Meanwhile the MC likely wanted to do something different but with his personality he's not great at resisting (see the fact he's at the same company, even if at a difference branch) so in the end he probably moved away to the city like many others did.

Binged series today (thanks to guy who linked first 3 chaps in title comments). It's good story. Main characters resemble me. All side characters are very well depicted. My favourite so far is the moment on the beach, with turbines.
