At this point, I think Mashima does this on purpose. Not that that's a bad thing - he knows he can do a few things very well, advertises that he can do them, and gives his readers what they want. If they want quasi-One Piece with more tits, he gives them quasi-One Piece with more tits. He's honest, and I respect that.
