@Yautja From what I understand, Father wasn't missing his shots on purpose. His damaged form, combined with his life nearing it's end, contributed to his failure to hit anyone. The initial blasts he was gonna set off hit the ceiling due to his inability to maintain accuracy due to his damage, and as one of the
pissheads non-humans mentioned he seemed unable to maintain his balance. I think he actually managed to get one of them before
shish kebab meat Roza was shown, but as for why Yabashira saved her, his thoughts convey his desire for Somali to not see such brutality. I'd like to think that if Somali wasn't near he would have let Roza get skewered, but to be fair we don't really know Yabashira well enough to know what his stance is on people willing to butcher his friends.
@Soleilsky That makes a lot of sense, honestly. However, I find it interesting that there was a Golem that was caring for a human village in secret and it wasn't till that Curator leaked the fact that humans even existed that the war occurred. My theory is that someone, maybe a non-human or the "Ancient Goddess" that said Curator had mentioned, found humans and knew how timid they were and made the Golems specifically to care for the humans. The forests were likely going to become human sanctuaries once humans and non-humans learnt to coexist, but that time never came. What I find strange, though, is the time frame. Supposedly Father was only supposed to live for a thousand years, and the first Curator that found that island initially had found it about a thousand years before the current(recently dead) Curator made a book. Furthermore, there were other guardians of the forests as well that weren't Golems, such as the beast guardian in that withering forest. What if that's how all the many species came about? That is to say, what if each forest was once a sanctuary for each species, with the idea that after a thousand years they would become intelligent enough to live without the need for the guardian? This could be why Golems seem linked to humans. Each Guardian would resemble their target species to an extent, but would differ due to the need to be exceedingly strong so as to protect it's charge no matter what happens, hence why Golems resemble humans and humans are able to accept Golems so readily. Humans are instinctively at ease near Golems.
With that said, all of this is just hypothetical. There are too many what ifs and various holes, but I find this "Ancient Goddess" particularly interesting, especially when it came from the most powerful and wise Witch. The Witches all value history, so the history of the planet they are on and the beginnings of all the different species would all be of extremely high importance. If we can get more information about this "Ancient Goddess, " then we may be able to piece together the state of the planet. It could be that humans came from another planet(Reminds me of a certain VampirexTemplar love story), and this "Ancient Goddess" was the leader of these humans who sought to make a home. It could also be literal, where an Ancient Goddess created the planet and all the different species, including humans, but predicted the friction and created the Golems to protect and become Shepards for humanity. Or it could be something else entirely.
Regardless, we won't know for sure till we get more info, and this assumes that we actually get any. Since this is a story about Somali and her Father, the history of this planet isn't inherently important to the story, only Somali's experiences. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
