I've been active on 4chinz for almost 20 years, but I must admit my engagement there has been low the past year after they introduced the 15 minute timer. There is a fairly active scanlation community on /a/ with almost weekly threads, though I guess it has mostly been every other week for a while. Why, in the Two Thousand and Twenty Fifth Year of Our Lord, is anyone still using 4chan?

Thank you for an informative response, and all my best wishes to you and the other members of the community there who are using it as a positive resource.I've been active on 4chinz for almost 20 years, but I must admit my engagement there has been low the past year after they introduced the 15 minute timer. I won't exactly cry if 4chinz dies for good, and I must honestly admit it's been around way past its time, but it's still a little sad if it's gone now considering how awful much time I've spent there.
I've mostly only been active on /a/ later years. Used to be pretty active on /fit/ back during the golden days back in 2011-2013, but that board is far gone from its roots. Otherwise I've probably mostly been on /g/ and probably /vr/ I think occasionally. The site will likely come back in some form or another, it still has so many users even nowadays. If there's so many users interested in a site, coming back is pretty likely.
As for the quality of the site... I personally only use the Traditional Games board, where you could find discussions about pen and paper rpgs. There are a FEW boards that are relatively wholesome and have decent content.
The rest of the boards, yeah...
There are already spies inside, it's too late.Is it time for us to prepare to welcome 4channers here on Mangadex forums (4chan's better cousin)?
On a second thought, who even wants 4channers on this forums, LOCK THE GATE BROS, WE'RE GATEKEEPING THIS ONE.
You best start believing in 4chan stories, Miss Robinisback... you’re in one!Is it time for us to prepare to welcome 4channers here on Mangadex forums (4chan's better cousin)?

I agree because I crawled out of the same radioactive soup. I know the eldritch runes. I’ve seen the reaction images. I’ve been the reaction image. (Ex-4channer here, mainly used 4chan when Mangadex was down.)You best start believing in 4chan stories, Miss Robinisback... you’re in one!
No but seriously there's probably more people here that have been active on 4chan that haven't. Remember that the whole anime and manga popularity and culture more or less started there. Manga and anime wouldn't have been the same without 4chan bringing us together most likely.

It certainly would be at least a little bit different, but I suspect something else would have largely filled that space in a similar fashion.Manga and anime wouldn't have been the same without 4chan bringing us together most likely.
I remember m00t being drunk and shitposting once in a while. That was always fun.Let me tell you a story about the before times. I was wearing an onion on my belt, as was the fashion of the day....

I started getting into anime seriously toward the end of college, and I graduated with my BA in 2002. Got into manga shortly after that - at one point I had the full, almost 10 year run of US Shonen Jump Monthly in print. (Sold that and about 2/3ds of my collection of tanks to a local shop to pay for my last move, and only had to spend about half of what I got.) I was on some boards for a few years in the early to mid '00's, but I never frequented 4chan. A few friends in the late '00's would hang out on /b as a source of entertainment late at night, so I can't claim more than a passing acquaintance with the site, or any familiarity with the rest of the boards. Most of my 'understanding' of the site's modern incarnation comes from the moral panic stories in the news, which I'm sure are grossly hyperbolic and not representative of a huge part of the community there.I remember m00t being drunk and shitposting once in a while. I also remember accelspammer shitting up the board for months I think. That was not fun. Iirc that was why they started with captchas.
Honestly I've forgotten so much, I don't really understand how people can talk about it like it was yesterday.
Most people active on 4chan were just talking about their interests. The biggest problem children were probably /pol/ and /b/. Of course you had trolls and schizos ruining the fun once in a while, and recently there's been a significant increase in shilling on several boards including /a/, but still for many things it was a great alternative to other places like reddit.I started getting into anime seriously toward the end of college, and I graduated with my BA in 2002.
