As overplayed the reincarnation premise is, I'm still looking for one with good writing.

Well, this series is pretty highly recommended for some reason. The start is a pretty standard cliche so far but hopefully it does well from here on, there's a pretty good number of series that play with the same cliches but do everything better somehow. The high ratings stuff get on this and other sites are a decent nudge in the right direction and all, but there's definitely a ton of people mixed in that just throw 10s and 0s around willy nilly instead of actually rating a thing as if using a scale and two seconds of thought on what is and isn't good about it.
