For some reason, I just can't help getting annoyed with Chiyo...
For someone who she supposedly loathes, Chiyo is certainly getting along with Ookuma like a house on fire, spending all her time with him instead of her "boyfriend." What happened to, "If possible, I’d rather not see him again…" You seem awful comfy, cozy and relaxed with Ookuma now, Chiyo, for someone who caused your "love trauma" and who you supposedly detest.

But I wonder, why couldn't Chiyo sleep? Was it because she couldn't stop thinking about Ookuma? And what was Chiyo actually doing in the middle of the night? Was she going to sneak into Ookuma's room for a midnight tryst? Was that why she was surprised to find him on the sofa?

Shall we take bets on whether or not she accepts his invitation? If what she says is actually true, that she wants nothing to do with him, then she's bound to refuse. But, on the other hand, if she really does have lingering feelings for Ookuma, she'll gladly stay, regardless of how her "boyfriend" might feel if he knew she was keeping Ookuma company in the middle of the night.

Man, I can certainly tell why you were at wits end with this a while back, now.

There could be a case study on Chiyo's twisted thought process.

There could be a case study on Chiyo's twisted thought process.

Chiyo's thought processes (or lack thereof) and behaviors remind me of characters in manga involving middle or even elementary school romance. Sure, Igarashi is her first boyfriend so she's inexperienced, but she's 19 years old and oughta have a bit more common sense (and patience, and sensitivity).

Same here. I started reading this because I liked the art (and especially Igarashi). Way back when, had I known how irritated I would eventurally get with Chiyo's antics, I might not have volunteered to help scanlate this series, but I'm stuck with it now and there's probably only one thing that would make me quit before it comes to an end.

Yeah, i started because in the beginning it looked pretty good. At this point, i'm just staying to count how much shit Igarashi is gonna take and how much Chiyo is gonna pull for them to break up. If not, then what magic the author is gonna use to make it reasonable for them to stay together.

@Shootyagoo With 179 chapters as of today, it doesn't look like it's going to end any time soon. The magic seems to be Igarashi's ability to accept Chiyo for who she is, even with all her flaws. He is a saint among mere mortal men to put up with her antics. Of course, having waited ten years to reunite with her, it's gonna take a lot to make him give up on her, particularly since she really hasn't changed much at all from the obstinate, lying brat he knew way back when. Unfortunately, I don't get the feeling that she is as committed to the relationship as Igarashi is. If the tables were turned and some dude made a play for her in a similar situation as Subaru did for Igarashi, I'm not sure Chiyo wouldn't at least entertain the idea, unlike Igarashi whose faithfulness is rock solid.
