@kn1000a
Negi Haruba (author of 5Toubun no Hanayome) slowly transforming into Tite Kubo (author of Bleach). Kubo, is known for twists in his manga, or "being a hack" by others.
In Bleach, the childhood friend also wins the affection of the protagonist.
Neither in Bleach, nor here, did the childhood friends win. In Bleach, Orihime was a classmate that Ichigo knew through his actual childhood friend, Tatsuki. Other than Aizen trolling her at one point her only relevance was bringing Orihime into the plot. I supported Ichigo/Orihime but he knew Rukia probably just as long.
Here, Yotsuba isn't the childhood friend, they only spent a day together. She's "First Girl all along" (which is different from First Girl, that is Itsuki). Chapter 100 makes it clear childhood friend is Takebayashi.
@bazuso Itsuki is the 1st girl we meet, but Yotsuba is the 1st girl HE meets, so I consider her 1st girl. No it is not ironic since at least most of the romcoms I've read the 1st girl/childhood friend wins.
@Fgerjon Thank God there is no harem end. It is trash.
@Beleghen-od-ruin Orihime isn't the childhood friend. The childhood friend is Tatsuki. Orihime has only known Ichigo for 1-2 years max before the start of the story.
@Chichan45 So much butthurt. It's good that Negi-sensei decided to have Fuutarou choose the sister that supported and loved him the strongest, instead of trying to fill your lame self-insert fantasy.
Yotsuba wins because she not only deserved it, she genuinely earned it.
