Maybe he wasn't a traitor before. like I suspected, but if Ye Han now starts to feel alienated, he might listen to the advice from wrong people. In the end if he has spent a lot of time out there in the wilderness while growing up, he would naturally grow apart from both the Ye family and city life. Some dark guild members, who have likewise lived outside of the city, could appear sympathetic and sharing the same burdens. If they could convince him that a great monster uprising is coming in the near future, and nobody can do anything about it, possibly they could get him to do things he otherwise wouldn't.

Although I still primarily stick to my old suspicion of there being something wrong about him. It's just too convinient he was nowhere in sight back in Nie Li's old memories of the invasion, and this time as well only arrived after the dark guild attack had happened. Not to mention he didn't arrive with the other man, but instead had an excuse ready. For all we know, that other person has been dead for a while already.

@Kaarme it's pretty easy to explain: Ye Han didn't exist as a character before and the author just added him as an antagonist later on. :p
He was never mentioned before after all. He said he was travelling with Ye Xiu (? - the goat guy who brought the book with the array). But he didn't come back with him when he arrived the first time around. :p I mean, yes there's a possibility that he stayed with Grandpa Ye Mo, but shouldn't he then have said that he was travelling with him?

@DonGiovanni Actually, he was travelling with Elder Ye Ming. It was said in ch137. That guy is still out there. According to Ye Han, he supposedly found some realm too dangerous for Ye Han, and thus he sent Ye Han home alone. This is why I thought Ye Han could have collaborated with the Dark Guild, and this Ye Ming could already be a corpse feeding maggots in a shallow grave.

@Kaarme Ah, yes, thank you. I mixed them up. Ye Ming actually hasn't ever appeared but I thought he was a character we had seen before. Oh and he is actually dead - at least in the novel. He died protecting Ye Han instead of just sending him back because it was dangerous. (Had to look up who ming was and thought it was interesting enough to share. Not really a spoiler, so I left it in plaintext)
