Yea, only she has absolutely no way of proving what she says is true (the money is not evidence) and she's a prostitute, which pretty much automatically makes her untrustworthy in the eyes of pretty much everyone. Meanwhile he's a guy with a nice face looking after a little girl. In a his word vs her word scenario, he'd most likely win.

@beperov Geez, once again, that's why I said the MC is like a naive pure hearted brat that summoned from another world, which more often than not is a "good guy", or more suitable to be called goody two shoes. I'm not denying that, I'm just saying that he could be a little bit more apathetic, especially when he planned to separate from his daughter later. Seeing that his daughter even cried when he refused to help the prostitutes, it shown that she's very sympathetic, but in this world overly sympathetic could drag you into trouble, that's why he should not only teach her to be kind to others but also ignore others, especially troublesome ones, like the swindler girl. Even the MC said that he want to show only the beautiful side of the world to his daughter, and that in my opinion is a very grave mistake.

what? its even easier to trace money without modern tech. The coinage wont be carbon copies of each other. They're less robust and easier to mark, there will be differences in coinage between cities, kingdoms and regions. Their (swindler and mc) will have had different travels and accumulated different coins.

Aside from looking at the currency as a whole, there just needs to be one unique distinct feature that someone else can confirm in the bunch. Like a coworker giving her a unique coin.

1) The type that wants their children to be decent human beings that values honesty, integrity, (insert "help other people as much as possible" values here)
2) The opposite of 1.
3) The 'practical' way. Where you teach your child to live like a Witcher. Want things done? Pay me. Then leave me out of the rest of your problems.

Also boag is right. Most parents would pick parenting style 1. It is not only about sympathy or apathy. It is about doing the 'right thing' and hopefully not lose the respect the child has for you.

Besides taking the money in this case is like saying its okay to receive bribes/hush money.
