@boag Well I can't argue with what you said, seeing that I'm not a father.
@Nep Well if you live in a fairly safe place (modern era) then yeah I would agree with number 1, but seeing that this manga didn't set in such a place (closer to medieval era I guess) I'd rather pick number 3, I guess we can say that you're an idealist and I'm a realist. I didn't say he should do things strictly in either black or white only (your number 1 and 2), I said that not only he should teach her to be kind he should also teach her to be apathetic, kind to the ones that are kind and apathetic to the ones that are troublesome, and the swindler girl here is clearly a troublesome person which can serve him as example for his daughter to be apathetic. This is where we disagree, you said that "to be kind to everybody as much as possible", but I said that "you should be kind, but ignore the troublesome ones". And what's wrong with taking the money in this case? Seeing that he didn't plan to blab anyway, taking the money just gonna make the swindler girl to go away quickly, of course it's wrong if he planned to blab but then decided to shut up after taking the money though, the key is that his original intention aligned with the purpose of the money, and he should explain it later to the daughter as the lesson of "stay away from trouble, if you've unintentionally involved then quickly get away".
