I'm just...baffled. This is one of the worst endings I've ever seen. No resolution to anything AT ALL.
Souma never beat his father and Souma never got Erina to say his food is delicious. Two things that had been his goal since the very start of the manga. What was the point of this whole manga when there was no resolution to these core plot points? Imagine if Edward and Alphonse had just given up on restoring their bodies and resolving to live with their bodies the way they were when the core plot of the whole manga was them trying to find a way to restore their bodies and doing so with never-ending optimism and resilience. It'd have been as shit as this ending.
Asahi, a damn criminal, got a happy ending. Even worse, we got far too many pages dedicated to him and his happy ending. Was this Shokugeki no Souma or Shokugeki no Asahi? I don't even know anymore.
Not only that, but all that romantic build-up and tension between Erina and Souma and that love triangle drama, the ENTIRE LAST ARC of the main manga just to push Souma and Erina together, only for it to be an open ending in the 3 extra chapters despite them clearly being in love with each other? Tsukuda is the absolute worst.
The only one who got hitched was Hayama from the looks of it. It never says who he's married to, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's Jun even though that would be weird and awkward as fuck considering the mother/son older sister/younger brother relationship they've been portrayed having (on Jun's end at least). Then there's the whole 16 year age gap thing to worry about. I cringe at the thought.
If Tsukuda ever gets to do another manga (I hope not) then I certainly won't be reading it. Don't care about his announcement either. Just...garbage ending.
