There’s temple legend that says: ‘If two people pray on half-moon night, they’ll be matched together.’ the pairing test is based on groups of two:
Group 1: Miyata & Mori
Group 2: Sano & Marumi
Group 3: Koutarou & Kuro
Group 4: Takasu & Hikari.
but they switch to: Ei & Marumi, while Koutarou & Hikari, Takasu & Kuro, and Miyata & Mori go first. Miyata thinks Mori likes Koutarou, but actually she likes Miyata with blush and shy face, but too scared to say it out loud.
Koutarou & Hikari start praying at the shrine. then Koutarou tells Hikari there’s something he wants to say. Kuro realizes Takasu real plan is to push Koutarou into making a full decision. Kuro sees a white cat above the torii gate and starts following it. Then the cat transforms into a human named Nami, Kuro friend.

thank you for translating

Honestly, Takasu's correct, and Koutarou's being a bit hypocritical in all of this.

Clearly you're supposed to be opposed to Takasu's character as "antagonistic" because he's directly intruding in on the MC's romance, but he's 1) necessary as a foil to the ML's romance arc, and 2) actually making logical arguments and even turning Koutarou's "white knighting" on its head by stating he's in no position to interfere on Hikari's behalf.

Koutarou's been stupidly wishywashy this whole time (he's a romance manga protagonist, it's more common to be this way than not in meta sense), and he needs friction and tension to push him forward. Narrative-wise, that kinda necessitates a romantic rival, and I definitely think someone like Takasu is preferable to an actual scumbag.
Yes, Takasu tried to win Kuro in a bet, and that's pretty slimy any way you look at it - but it seems he's being shown as changing his ways at his core, and now using that "scumbag playboy" to get Koutarou to act, so.

Not a redeemed character I guess, but a narrative necessity, and an effective one who's intelligent and insightful enough to make very convincing arguments about Koutarou's current lacking.

Nope.
F-boy is actually serially using females. MC is just unable to choose. AND he hasn't DONE anything.
If you can't see the difference, you my dear friend are part of the problem.
F-boy needs to be knee-capped, as well as get a drastic teeth number reduction.

How many persons need an explanation of the difference between f-boy and wishy-washy MC?
Kotaru hasn't been serially using women. He's just not decided on whom he loves.
F-boy supreme, however, is basically a predator, who goes to any lengths to trick girls into bed.
I know whose knees I would introduce to a mallet any day.
And if you don't see the difference, you, dear sir, are part of the problem.

I mean... he's spitting facts
F-boy is not spitting facts. He's twisting those self-same facts.
What he's doing, is tricking girls. He's not interested in them, other than as conquests.
Compare F-boy with Kotaru. K is just insecure, and doesn't know his own heart or mind yet.
He's still in the process of understanding what he feels. He hadn't even understood that he was interested in Hikari until recently.
The difference should be immediately understandable.
He is not going for a harem. (Although who knows what the author will come up with?)
So. See the difference? Or are you part of the problem?

You didn't exactly counter anything I said as it pertains to Takasu's use to the plot, though. His actions here are intended to force Koutarou to make a decision per Kuro's goal - to appear to flirt with Hikari and antagonize Koutarou into taking actual action in being more forward with her.

Kuro laid this all out in this very chapter. She needs Koutarou and Hikari to get together to fulfill the Curse requirements. She can't reliably do it herself, so she's enlisting Takasu to aggravate Koutarou into taking action and stop being so passive.

The reader isn't supposed to like Takasu, so I don't know why you're focusing on the bad qualities he possesses like it's some sort of gotcha against what I said.
I do think this is also potentially starting Takasu's bent toward being less of how he used to be, especially as he gets more involved with the main three and their personalities rub off on him. But that's just a guess; it could very well not be the case, and it certainly isn't true as of this point in any but the most surface-level ways.

But he's still a playboy, and not meant to be a 'good guy' from our perspective or from the characters'.

Pls, the fkboy is right in everything. The only dick move so far was the first bet he did (and not so much, because they didn't need to accept). Everyone knows his reputation and they still chose him, being a "sl*t" isn't wrong if the other part knows about it.

The MC is marking territory around 2 girls without doing anything and playing the "good guy", he is an hypocrite and you could say that he is at the starting line of doing the same as fkboy.

I hope mc stays single, so kuro has to stay curse god. Because she is doing too much playing with everyone's feelings, she turned down mc but has no problem with the blonde guy and she is the reason for this whole love triangle mc never liked hikari until kuro.

Blonde dude just clocked MC bad. Yeah he's still an asshole but what he said to the MC isn't wrong by any means.

i'm glad the author is pointing it out lol this is a really insightful and smart way to use this classic trope.
I really didn't like MC criticizing takasu when they're both doing the same thing, at least Takasu is honest* about it.
Being dense as fucking osmium does not shield MC from the consequences of his actions, or lack thereof in this case.

*: towards himself, i don't think the girls he got with knew about it since he started to care about other people like, 4 chapters ago. this is what makes him an asshole.

On another note: why is everybody shredded af?? what a feast for the eyes

And why would you appreciate the f-boy? Do you like people who trick girls into relations?
And seem to aim for harems, without actually being interested in the girls, other than as conquests?
He's not a good guy for sure, but at least he is making shit happen. I meant it more as appreciating him as a character and his impact on the plot. Are you really so simple that you need to be told that obviously I wouldnt like him in real life? It's a fictional story
