In my place being late in national exam didnt carry that much pressure/burden/risk, because you know. . . it's a national exam. A very important thing. Hence, even people in charge would become more lenient about rules and stuff. They didnt want to make you failed either.

@lenovoaxioo In Brazil, they close the gates at the appropriate time, come rain or come shine. There was even a time when people would camp at the gates only to enjoy the schadenfreude from watching applicants get turned away for lateness.

Well that was an entirely pointless chapter. He made it pretty much with no issue and nothing changes if he didn't fall.

Wow, that's so cruel on many level. While the gate would got locked too here, but it mostly to prevent unrelated party to enter.
