He does grab him by the ear but he's not actually holding him by the hair- that hand is in the "control position" at the top of the back of the head which allows you to fold someone over really easy if you manipulate it (basically pushing the head down). It's the cornerstone of the Thai plum clinch.

This chapter is so fighting-gamey. The panel where they are about to fight on the beach looks straight out of some fighting game. Just add lifebars. Mokichi looked a lot like Street Fighter Ken preforming his triangle choke.

They both fought against Kure Raian, following that line of thought rihito should be stronger, they both improved from 2 years ago, and they both fought against the removal, were the priest got absolutelly trashed rihito did held his own with minimal injuries. Point taken, the priest fought against Raian to a standstill in his base form, but Raian fought against rihito with the removal from the fricking start. Rihito was stronger back then and is stronger now

Pd: people tend to consider rihito as low level just because he losted to everyone, but those everyones were, Ohma, 2nd place in the tournament, Raian, who was supposed to be a better fighter that Wakatsuki, 3rd place in the tournament, and the Devil lance himself, 1st place in the tournament. He is not bad, just have the worst mashups in the series.

Clearly, they both are not jobbers. I guess, It's be understandable if Rihito wins the match because he was active for 2 years, while mokichi robinson rested, and probably did theory fighting to improve himself. Mokichi might lose, but he would only lose to the stronger rihito.

I like both fighters, but why must there be only winner, and if whoever lose, they gonna be unfairly called "jobber" by readers.

Not a very accurate statement since we literally NEVER saw what happened between Rihito vs Raian. By that psycho's own statement "I'm fucking with you." He didn't take that altercation seriously at all. On top of that Raian had a match to get to, of course he wasn't going to stick around and risk disqualification as the Kure Clan is deadly serious when it comes to their contracts. Theres also @zvuvon 's statement

I do agree with this as it's similar to the Yamcha situation in DB. The guy was never "weak".
He just had the bad luck of running into top tier fighters every time he entered the Budokai

Even when canonically they are among the best fighters in their respective story.

Well, Raian using removal is far stronger than when hes on normal state.

Its true that he fights like old Rihito relying only on his brute strenght and he would have been far nastier if he went all out instead of "i wont accept i cant beat someone using my raw power only"

That interaction between Rihito and Mokichi really gets down one of my favorite parts of the series, that being how, with the exception of the outright villainous characters like Akoya, Raian and Kiryu, the fighters are all genuinely friends who respect each other. It helps make the series...kinder, I guess? Like, in spite of the brutal fights, what's just as important is the emotional connections people have.

@agtra As per the current Kengan regulations, he should be an affiliated fighter namely for himself as CEO of his own company. Only new fighters after the Tournament era must register as freelancers with Yamashita Trading Co.
